Division/Departments introduction

The Division of Acute and Critical Care Nursing was newly established in June, 2003. This Division focuses on the health disorders occurring at acute and critical stage in an adult, and searches for the evidences for developing effective methods of nursing assistance to encourage self-support and self-control in these patients and their families and to increase their QOL. We think that it is significant to construct the concept and the theory required for the development of the way of assistance from nursing-own viewpoint, by examining the experiences of the patients and their families during the course from acute and critical stage to the convalescent stage when self-management is needed, especially those undergoing highly advanced medical treatment.
We have started the researches on the validity of nursing diagnosis at an acute and critical stage and on QOL in the patients with coronary artery disease.
